USN Board Member named one of Utah’s “30 Women to Watch”

Carlene Walker, a member of the University of Southern Nevada (Roseman University) Board of Trustees was recognized by Utah Business magazine as one of Utah’s “30 Women to Watch” in May.
The magazine accepts hundreds of nominations and chooses 30 finalists for the award, women who are “innovative, confident, and savvy”. Award recipients may own their own businesses, run large divisions of major corporations, or serve the community in political, non-profit, and professional leadership roles.
“In short,” according to the May 2011 Utah Business article, “[these women] help define Utah’s business landscape.”
Carlene Walker was recognized for many years of professional accomplishments that include eight years as a Utah Senator, and her recent work as a member of the Visit Salt Lake board, where she has facilitated the development of convention hotel facilities in downtown Salt Lake City that will attract tourism and businesses to the state. In addition to her work with USN (Roseman University) and Visit Salt Lake, Walker is also a member of the Salt Lake Council for the Aging, president of Professional Republican Women, and a board member for the Utah State Commission on Criminal and Juvenile Justice, as well as many other community leadership roles.
